Hi all, I'm configuring a BSD 4.3 box to handle some services across our network, and I configured PPP (not pppd) and it was all working beautifully. Then I rebooted the server using the correct method and all of a sudden when I invoke a "ppp -background" command, PPP just does nothing. All of a sudden. This is something I'd expect from Windows. ppp.conf: default: ident user-ppp VERSION (built COMPILATIONDATE) # Ensure that "device" references the correct serial port # for your modem. (cuaa0 = COM1, cuaa1 = COM2) # set device /dev/cuaa0 set log Phase Chat LCP IPCP CCP tun command set speed 57600 set dial "ABORT BUSY ABORT NO\\sCARRIER TIMEOUT 5 \ \"\" AT OK-AT-OK ATE1Q0 OK \\dATDT\\T TIMEOUT 40 CONNECT" set ifaddr 10.0.0.1/0 10.0.0.2/0 255.255.255.0 0.0.0.0 set phone "1234567" set redial 10 4 set authname username set authkey password set timeout 180 # 3 minute idle timer (the default) add default HISADDR # Add a (sticky) default route enable dns # request DNS info (for resolv.conf) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------- I'm running ppp -backround That should execute the commands in the "default" section, so why isn't it? Yes, my modem is correctly connected and powered. When I load a PPP session, I see: [root@vanity /etc]# ppp Working in interactive mode There are no "prompt" characters, such as '>', as there used to be (if I recall). Is this a peculiarity?
