How is that > possible if the kernel is too old for it? > no idea about /usr/port/emulators/linux_base-8 which that article talks about, its not in my ports tree. but you can use linux_base-f7 if you set compat.linux.osrelease=2.6.16 however its still a work in progress and wont always work as intended, for example it works fine on my laptop {root@prawn}#pkg_info -Ix linux_base linux_base-f7-7 Base set of packages needed in Linux mode (for i386/amd64) {root@prawn}#sysctl compat.linux.osrelease compat.linux.osrelease: 2.6.16 and I can use acrobat and other linux binaries, however my desktop at home would not start acrobat reader using compat.linux.osrelease=2.6.16 and linux_base-f7-7, and I had to go back to linux_base-fc-4_10 and compat.linux.osrelease: 2.4.2.
