I installed the unzip package a fortnight ago. 
Then are you installing unzip

using the unzip.tgz file or did you compile in manuually using the unzip.tar.gz
file.

If you are not using the unzip.tgz file I suggest you use the unzip.tgz file
for FreeBSD.
