thanks, that did the trick.  i think i had a failed buildkernel from
the old kernel config lying around.  i guess i assumed that make
buildkernel did an rm -rf of /usr/obj/usr/src/sys/KERNCONF because
make buildworld rm -rf's /usr/obj before it runs.
