No, it's not that complex.

I really think I got this from the sample file in the man page or the web site 
or something; it certainly wasn't brilliance on my part, but this is what 
mine does for its targets:

src-all
ports-all tag=.

Thus, the config file overrides the tag for the port-all target but the rest 
of the config file can be shared.
