Thanks for the advice so far.  We're going to make the leap and jump for
3.3 (or the rumored 3.4 due any hour).  We've been tied to the 2.2.x tree
for a long time, so we were reluctant to move to the next era.  This looks
like the kind of situation that would warrant going for it.
