Hi All,

for the sake of completeness (and for those searching the archives in
the future ;')

This was solved relatively easily through the addition of the following
two lines in the /etc/rc.conf

pccard_conf="/etc/pccard.conf"
pccard_enable="YES"

Also, it was suggested I enable apm (apm_enable="YES" in rc.conf)

As a further change (after the above was confirmed to work), I then
modified my kernel configuration file to only have one sio device (sio0)
- as there is physically only the one 'COM' port on the machine. This
than allows the PCCard Modem to allocate sio1 to itself :')

Now to turn down the annoyingly loud "BEEP!" when the system starts up
and pccardd finds the modem ;')

Thanks all who helped, especially Sean. Oh, btw - thanks for the
additional info on the sound card, that's way down on my list of things
to do ;')

reg's,

Haxxa
