It is just my personal impressions and speculations I got looking how the login emulation code evolves from release to release, i.e. becomes worse: obsoleted and then removed. Don't take them as finite statements :-) F.e. compare login emulation support (I mean for different machines) which was in initial public ssh & OpenSSH and a little rest of it we see now. -- Andrey A.
