I'm moving this to -hackers where it belong.  -current is getting
TWICE THE FREAKING TRAFFIC of -hackers these days.

Depends on the size and clarity of the replacement.  Be aware that we
use perl5 in other parts of the build process, too - e.g, the device
config generation in the kernel build.
