Hi,

While I haven't tried it since long ago (before egcs), it is possible to set
gcc natively as a cross compiler for linux (or solaris or anything else
supported by gcc) and then use ./configure --target=i386-linux or whatever. I
recall there were some weird issues, like having to brandelf everything, but it
worked.
