If you mean you've downloaded "-CURRENT" 5.0 version rather than the version 4 -STABLE or -RELEASE versions, you're making a big mistake if you're new to BSD. The 5.0 developer's preview version can sometimes be not operable, and contains experimental code. It's best if you're new to stick to the 4.x-RELEASE and -STABLE branches. (Latest release is 4.6.)
