# 1. Does FreeBSD use a microkernel architecture

I don't think so, since FreeBSD is based on the 4.4BSD Lite source.

# 2. Does FreeBSD run on PowerPC?

The core of Mac OS X, called Darwin, runs on PowerPC and is based on
FreeBSD. Here's a link to the Apple's Darwin site:
http://developer.apple.com/darwin/

Hope this helps.
