Hi; I have to confirm that KGI4BSD, is effectively dead. There was never enough developer interest anyways :(. In any case, if it were to resurrect one day, the i386 port always depended on having VESA too, so - as has been mentioned in this list before - initializing VESA from the boot loader, before the kernel, would be a good idea. FWIW, I'm afraid I was never able to use the normal VGA modes for the splash screen either. cheers, Pedro.
