I ran into this this morning.  I edited /etc/make.conf (you might need
to cp /etc/defaults/make.conf to /etc/make.conf) and uncommented the
XFREE86_VERSION=        3 line.

Then I ran pkgdb -F and noted all that were referencing the
XFree86-libraries-4.2.0_1 libraries and re-installed them, then ran
pkgdb -F and all was happy.
