That was no question.  I can distinguish ENOENT from ENXIO. :-)

Unless you can see the drive working again when booting an older
kernel, i'd suspect the drive went south.  Of course, you can turn on
options SCSIDEBUG (plus ``scsi -f ... -d XX), and see what it's really
doing.
