The man pages for mkisofs, isoinfo and split weren't very=20 > helpful in this regard. You misunderstood the -split-output option. It splits the image itself, so that it can be saved on file systems which have trouble with big files. I guess files splitted with split(1) can be rebuild with cat, haven't tried it though.
