I only use vi and see that occasionaly. Do a vi -r and you will see
all of the files that you were editing when you killed vi. Then you do
a "vi -r filename" and you can do a :q! to kill it if you want.

I was told a long time ago to keep messages to one subject. That keeps
the quoting to reasonable amounts later on.
