FreeBSD dream.irk.ru 7.1-RELEASE FreeBSD 7.1-RELEASE #0: Wed Jan 7 01:47:08 IRKT 2009 root@dream.irk.ru:/usr/src/sys/i386/compile/FATALITY i386

>Description:
/usr/ports/misc/mc cannot process KOI-8 Russian letters in console. It displays white dots on black instead. In command line, attempt to enter Russian letters results in dots and cursor sometimes moving leftward. In viewer, Russians are seen in binary mode only, in editor - not seen.

In Eterm Russian letters are OK.

Port /usr/ports/misc/mc-light not affected.

Problem is believed to be somewhere in libraries since mc port has not changed from 7.0-RELEASE.

This problem may be related with absence of pseudographic frames in mc both in console and under Eterm.

>How-To-Repeat:
Install FreeBSD 7.1, Russian console. Install ports. Make and install cvsup. Cvsup ports. Make and install mc. Allow 8-bit input and KOI-8. Observe the problem. Clean, cvsup and copy ports to work HDD. Reinstall 7.1 again, Russian console. Attach work HDD and make mc. Install mc, allow 8-bit input and KOI. Observe the problem again.
>Fix:
Use /usr/ports/misc/mc-light.
