Well, I mention that because the server you're describing would probably be
massive overkill for an Amanda backup station.  It requires (well, strongly
prefers) enough disk space to hold the largest partition or directory you'll
be saving, but that's it.  It could be the case that learning Amanda before
building the server could save you quite a bit of money and/or resources.
