While I'm asking questions... is kdm meant to be usable in the default 
configuration?

3.2-RELEASE and 3.2-STABLE give me the errors below when I try to run. With 
a name like /usr/local/config/kdm/authdir/A:0-N10937 I suspect this file was 
supposed to be created by some utility, not a human. But I don't see 
anything in the docs.

/usr/local/config/kdm/authdir/A:0-N10937

Jul  5 12:41:19 milkymoo kdm[10940]: server XBINDIR/X cannot be executed

unexpectedly: 1

Jul  5 12:41:34 milkymoo kdm[10937]: Cannot open server authorization file 
/usr/local/config/kdm/authdir/A:0-s10937

Jul  5 12:41:34 milkymoo kdm[10942]: server XBINDIR/X cannot be executed

Jul  5 12:41:45 milkymoo kdm[10937]: server unexpectedly died

Jul  5 12:41:50 milkymoo kdm[10937]: Server for display :0 can't be started, 
session disabled
