True, true them ne2000 based nics must be taken out of pnp mode using that dos
utility...for proper 
operation under *nix's.By default they are set for I/O 0x300 IRQ 10,most of the
time that needs to be 
changed to 0x280/9 at least that's what mine is set too under freebsd...hope
