As weird as this sounds...it's working now. Guess it takes some time to
balance itself out. Thanks for all the help!

Ok...did that...my file has exactly what you said...I used
tick.usno.navy.mil and tock.usno.navy.mil. I still get the same
problem. When I do an 'ntpdate -d', this is what I get:

server 10.200.200.52, port 123
stratum 16, precision -20, leap 11, trust 000
refid [0.0.0.0], delay 0.02573, dispersion 0.00000
transmitted 4, in filter 4
reference time: 00000000.00000000 Thu, Feb 7 2036 1:28:16.000
originate timestamp: c0e9a9a1.613dd97f Wed, Jul 24 2002 18:33:05.379
transmit timestamp: c0e9a9a1.9a3a29c7 Wed, Jul 24 2002 18:33:05.602
filter delay: 0.02588 0.02573 0.02573 0.02573
         0.00000 0.00000 0.00000 0.00000
filter offset: -0.22268 -0.22268 -0.22268 -0.22268
         0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000
delay 0.02573, dispersion 0.00000
offset -0.222683

24 Jul 18:33:05 ntpdate[67401]: no server suitable for synchronization
found

On the server....in /var/log/messages, I have:

Jul 24 18:31:40 Palpatine ntpd[11357]: ntpd 4.1.0-a Mon Jan 28 12:52:01
GMT 2002 (1) Jul 24 18:31:40 Palpatine ntpd[11357]: kernel time
discipline status 2040

The part I really don't get is where it's getting a reference time of
"Feb 7 2036" from! The dates on both the server and the client are
correct (at least, they look it when I type 'date')

Any ideas?

Thanks again,
