I have tried the patch for stable/10 and it causes the system to hang at bo=
ot,
at what what appears to be the start of init. (but not sure). Last message I
get is the kernel message about root mounted from NFS and my vmx0 boot
interface comes up. System is pingable, but hangs at this point.

If I back out the patch, it works fine.

I've tried the patch against stable/10 and also releng/10.3. Both of which =
seem
to patch ok.
