Same problem for me too. I'm using a Creative CD-RW:

/kernel: acd0: CD-RW <CREATIVE CD-RW RW4224E> at ata1-master using BIOSPIO

It was working fine with FreeBSD 3.4-RELEASE, but now (using FreeBSD 4.0)
I can't burn my CD's and my drive produce a noise when burns fail.

Paulo.
