While the gnu tar can and does handle names longer than 100 characters, cpio does not properly read the long file names out again. Files are truncated at the 100 char limit. >How-To-Repeat: Add a file to a distribution where the destination path name is longer than 100 characters. Build a release, then use sysinstall.
