You *can* do 3d animation on FreeBSD.  There are Renderman(tm) tools
(ports/graphics/linux-bmrt), raytracing tools (graphics/povray,
graphics/rayshade), and modellers (graphics/sced), to name the most accessible
ones that I know of.
