First off, my apologies for taking so much time with this. I got
side-tracked into writing code. :-}

Thanks to everyone who stepped forward during this latest call for
volunteers - this actually marks the beginning of the FreeBSD
Documentation Project as a complete, organized group of volunteers!
Wow! :-)

Seriously, I'm very happy to see this project staffed and off to such
a promising start. I also think that the SGML framework which John
has put together, along with lessons learned from the existing web
pages and online docs, give this group a much better starting point
than it ever had a year ago (eyeballs roll back in head at the
memory). I think there's room to do some really interesting stuff
here, and I'm sure that General John Fieber's also not going to go
away entirely so much as now be free to use his time more
strategically in the service of FreeBSD's DocBook migration (among
other things), which would be good.

[ The following information will also be going into the handbook.
A follow-up message as to what exactly all this *means* in more
practical terms will also follow this one; this is just the roster ]

"Gloria, the envelope please."

In all cases, where a Deputy position is filled, the individuals are
assumed to share the responsibilities in some way, the least of which
should include the deputy taking over whenever the principle is
unavailable.

Primary Webmaster:	Ade Barkah <mbarkah@hemi.com>
Deputy Webmaster:	Paul Richards <p.richards@elsevier.co.uk>

2nd in command to Docmaster (John Fieber) and generally in charge
of making sure that all the separate tasks which go into making
the web pages live get done.

Build Engineer: Paul Richards <p.richards@elsevier.co.uk>
Deputy BE: Dave Cornejo <dave@dogwood.com>

Arrange for building the "live" web pages from the CVS repository on
a daily basis. A good working knowledge of SGML is essential. The
current setup uses Makefiles and some moderately advanced SGML
features to generate the pages that get posted on server.

Mirror Manager: Ulf Zimmermann <ulf@Lamb.net>
Deputy MM: John Cavanaugh <john@bang.rain.com>

Direct mirroring activities. Set up and maintain mirroring
mechanism(s), keep in regular contact with mirror administrators to
negotiate changes, such as running various CGI scripts on mirrors
rather than on the master site. Set up criteria for being listed
as an "Official" mirror on the home page.

News Editor: John Cavanaugh <john@bang.rain.com>
News Reporter: Nate Johnson <nate@ncsu.edu>

Track new release, important changes and other news (eg: monitor the
freebsd-announce lists). Maintain the "Release info" and
"Newsflash" pages. A weekly or bi-weekly "Whats new with FreeBSD"
summarizing interesting developments in or related to FreeBSD would
be a great addition, but a fair amount of work.

Gallery/Commercial Editor:	"Charles A. Wimmer" <cawimm0@service1.uky.edu>
Deputy GCE: Ricardo AG <ricardag@ag.com.br>

Receive and verify submissions for the FreeBSD Gallery and the
Commercial Vendors pages. Weed dead links and periodically verify
the use of FreeBSD by those listed.

Style Police/Art Director:	Dave Cornejo <dave@dogwood.com>
Deputy SPAD: Chris Watson <opsys@orion.webspan.net>

Ensure consistent and effective use of layout, graphics and logical
structure of the site as a whole. Assist other WWW developers in
implementing the "www.freebsd.org look and feel". A background in
HCI, with a focus on electronic text and graphic design, is
  *extremely* desirable.

Handbook/FAQ/Tutorial Editor:	Peter da Silva <pds@FreeBSD.ORG>
Deputy HFTE: TBD

Solicit new materials, arrange for updating of obsolete sections,
mundane style editing. Good technical writing skills essential
(since hackers are notoriously terrible writers). A familiarity
with the "novice user" is also helpful. Scanning the
freebsd-questions list is a must to keep in touch with what should
be in the FAQ. A broad familiarity with FreeBSD/Unix/X11 is more
  important than a deep familiarity.

Database Engineer:	Mark Mayo <mark@quickweb.com>
Deputy DE: Martin Cracauer <cracauer@wavehh.hanse.de>

Manage (and hopefully improve) the mailing list archives and web
  page searching.

CGI Engineer: Martin Cracauer <cracauer@wavehh.hanse.de>
Deputy CGIE: TBD

Watch over CGI functionality, such as cvsweb and gnats. There is
great potential in developing a cgi interface to the ports too.

Other: Nate Johnson <nate@ncsu.edu>

A variety of other pages (eg Support) don't neatly fit in the above
categories. Someone needs to watch over these.

More to follow later, this is (again) just the roster.

Thanks!

					Jordan
