Kevin,

I completely agree, but it always depends on how good a GP you have.  Took
me a few years of discarding before I found my current GP who is very
competent.

That said, I have been on and off a user of FreeBSD for close to 20 years
and have always found that starting with freebsd-questions is never a bad
thing for a first step.
