I'm having a problem in my attempt to install 5.3-RELEASE on a MiataGL. The system is currently running 4.10-STABLE just fine. I double-checked the downloaded floppy image MD5 checksums, and dd'd to and from the disks to verify their integrity. After I go through the sequence of: * boot * kern1 * kern2 * boot * mfsroot1 * mfsroot2 as prompted, the kernel starts booting. Here is where things get a little fuzzy since I don't have a serial console to capture it. The last thing I see is: ---- isp0: <Qlogic ISP 1020/1040 PCI SCSI Adapter> port 0x8000-0x80ff mem 0x81010000-0x81010fff irq 3 at device 4.0 on pci1 isp0: interrupting at CIA irq 3 isp0: [GIANT-LOCKED] halted CPU 0 halt code = 5 HALT instruction executed PC = 1f00 ---- Earlier I saw some device attach return 6, I think for the ATA controller. No such errors appear in a 4.10-STABLE dmesg. I know I haven't provided much good info, but here are the questions: * has anyone else seen this behavior? * is there a way to get, or does anyone have, "kern1"/"kern2" floppy images with "options DDB" so I could step through this, at the very least to be able to write down all the error messages? * any other suggestion on how to debug this? Below is a copy of a good dmesg from 4.10-STABLE. Thanks in advance for any assistance. Jim ---- Copyright (c) 1992-2003 The FreeBSD Project.
