Maybe it's a little too long (you certainly don't need the "Hi, this
is..." greeting) but I certainly appreciate committers putting
information on what changed since the last version in our cvs log so I
can just look at that and decide whether to upgrade.

I'd be rather upset if I fetched a 10MB distfile just to find out that
the version bump was because they changed the configure script to
support yet another Linux distribution-du-jour. ;)
