Fair enough. Like I said it's a rant too.

I guess I was thinking I would have less problems then I thought seeing as 
I have quite a bit of experience with debian which is considered one of the 
more "difficult" linux distros (I disagree with that assessment BTW).

Besides I thought this list was for sharing your frustrations and joys. 
Trust me when the epiphany strikes you'll hear it too.
