Does the file /usr/share/mk/bsd.own.mk exist?

If yes, does it contain a definition of SHAREMODE?

	% grep SHAREMODE /usr/share/mk/bsd.own.mk
	# SHAREMODE     ASCII text file mode. [${NOBINMODE}]
	SHAREMODE?=     ${NOBINMODE}
