Hi,

Is the new ATA driver ready for production use? What benefit(s) would 48-bit
addressing bring?

---included story---

3 November, 2001: Soren Schmidt, author of the ATA driver, tested a new 160
GB ATA harddisk provided kindly by Maxtor Corporation with the new ATA
specification's 48-bit addressing mode support in FreeBSD 5.0-CURRENT. The
results show that the code is stable and functions as it should and will be
backported to STABLE.
