I wanted to think the people that pointed me towards the firmware problem(s)
with the Seagate Cheetah drives. I had ST39204LWs, that needed to be upgraded
from firmware rev2 to firmware rev6, and have worked fine since. I also had
some ST173404LWs that were at firmware rev2, and took those up to rev4 while
I was at it. Seagate finally got the info to me after a couple of phone calls
and some email, the only real hassle is their program to upgrade the firmware
only runs under Windows (95/98/NT), but not under W2K. If I only hadn't
wasted a week chasing nonexistent cable/controller problems.
