I have an AST Bravo LC 486 DX2/66 with an Adaptec 1542CF (sigh) SCSI-2 card. The card is at 0x130, so when the default 2.0.5A doesn't see it, it boots fine. However, when I "kernel -c" and then "port aha0 0x130" and then "quit", it dies with the following: Fatal trap 12: page fault while in kernel mode fault virtual address = 0xefc00000 fault code = supervisor read, page not present instruction pointer = 0x8:0xf019e950 code segment = base 0x0, limit 0xfffff, type 0x1b = DPL 0, pres 1, def32 1, gran 1 processor flags = interrupt enabled, resume, IOPL = 0 current process = 0 (swapper) interrupt mask = panic:page fault What am I doing wrong? I looked in archives and saw some people had problems with the Adaptec 1542CF. Is this not the card to use? Such study has been all but wasted. The product has taken the form in which we find it because it is an unsuitable graft upon an unprepared basis.
