Good day ppl

I have installed mysql323-server from the ports without any command line
arguments on freebsd 4.7.

i start the sql server by running /usr/local/etc/rc.d/mysqld.sh start

the server seems to start fine, but as soon as i try to connect to it, it
gives the following error:

ERROR 2002: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket
'/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)

the file /tmp/mysql.sock does not exsist though
can someone please help me with this?

thanks
Wayne
