Umm... What would be the benefit of displaying the password as opposed to changing it? In fact, in the wrong hands, that could be even more detrimental to system security than having to change it. If you're really hellbent on getting the password, there are various hacking utilities out there that you could throw your passwd database file at and let them run while they try to crack the encryption. Personally, you'd be better off simply changing the password. --- Andy > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG > [mailto:owner-freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG]On Behalf Of Andre` Niel > Cameron > Sent: Thursday, September 27, 2001 3:05 PM > To: free bsd > Subject: reading password > > Does anyone know of a way to display a users password incase they forget > versus using passwd to set them a new password? > > Regards, > Andre` C. > Technical Support To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
