Is this discussion *still* going on .. :)

In Britain vacuum cleaners are referred to as "hoovers"
although I guess hoovers other than Hoovers don't use that
name in public. But it is also a verb "to hoover".

Hasn't Un*x* achieved the same status ?

Conversation:

"I am just going to Unix for a while"
"Oh what brand of Unix do you use ?"
"Oh, FreeBSD of course, I find it reaches parts
other unixes just don't reach".

Or you could just do a "Prince" on it.

"FreeBSD, the operating system formerly known as Unix".

There are only two testis of whether a system is a Unix
or not, and Windows NT probably would not pass them.

Does it have an editor called "ed" available ?
And does it support programs named after the author's
dog ?
