I think it just works as long as you have a driver. I just put a dirt
cheap isapnp soundcard into one of my alphas and I can see it with
pnpinfo.

To avoid foot shooting, its a good idea to tell the firmware where the
card's resources are using isacfg so that it can avoid using them for
something else.
