Subject: SMP problems on 4.4

I've never been able to get an SMP kernel to work properly on
this old Tyan Tomcat that I picked up. Single CPU works great.

When booting dmesg displays:

agora /kernel: APIC_IO: Testing 8254 interrupt delivery
agora /kernel: APIC_IO: Broken MP table detected: 8254 is not connected to IOAPIC #0 intpin 2
agora /kernel: APIC_IO: routing 8254 via 8259 and IOAPIC #0 intpin 0
agora /kernel: SMP: AP CPU #1 Launched

According to the list archives this doesn't appear to be a
problem? Correct?

The problem is that the NIC appears to reset it self every few
seconds, (all link/status lights go off .. on .. off .. on ..)

The NIC is a cheapo kingston? <82c169 PNIC 10/100BaseTX>

I haven't tried swapping out the NIC yet, I've got some 3coms
around... I'm not sure if the CPU's need to be matched either,
they appear to be the same generation PII300s but have wildly
different serials. Do the PIIs need to be matched the same way
that old ppros did?
