ifconfig <device> <ip> netmask <subnet>
route add default <gateway>

do a 'man ifconfig' and 'man route' for more info...

to set them permanently, you need to edit your rc.conf (/etc/rc.conf
- - the defaults are in /etc/defaults/rc.conf, which should never be
modified - /etc/rc.conf overrides the defaults!)
