https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D258013 Bug ID: 258013 Summary: [REQUEST] Please make net/mpd5 part of the base system Product: Base System Version: Unspecified Hardware: Any OS: Any Status: New Severity: Affects Many People Priority: --- Component: bin Assignee: bugs@FreeBSD.org Reporter: ohartmann@walstatt.org Port net/mpd5's pkg-descr states: "... Mpd is a netgraph(4) based implementation of the multi-link PPP protocol for FreeBSD". Base's /usr/sbin/ppp has several disadvantages. On a PCengine APU2C4 (~ 1 G= Hz AMD GX-412TC, 1 GHz quad Jaguar core) /usr/sbin/ppp, operating in userland = and acting as the pppoe connection to a vDSL modem connecting to a DSL 100 ISP's line, ppp is barely mainatining 50 MBit/s utilizing 35% - 45% of the CPUs, while mpd5 can easily provide with 100% of the subscribed bandwith on the = same line while utilizing less than 5% CPU. OPNsense is also utilizing net/mpd5 as the primary tool for pppoe connectio= ns and I believe pfSense is the same. So I'd like to suggest to make the port net/mpd5 part of the base system. Kind regards and thanks, oh --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.=
