I'm coming into this late, but the "no window found" message is normal.
The new Mozilla startup script tries to connect to an already running
instance. If one isn't running, it opens a new window. If it finds a
running instance, it opens a new tab.

The actual "No running window found" message is generated by the
command:

/usr/X11R6/lib/mozilla/mozilla -remote "ping()"

This is line 22 in /usr/X11R6/bin/mozilla.

As for why the main window doesn't start up, not sure. It works for
me. It would be nice to see either a ktrace or truss to see what's
going on.
