hello list members,
once again thank you for your help to install mysql on my
box.
now that it's up i have a more philosophical question before
i know what direction to take (-: i told you i ll be back
with more questions :-) !

in fact i got a request from a teacher(i am in an academic
environement) who just wanted a server with mysql on it!
now that i have installed it on a FreeBSD box i think i need
to learn some of its intricacies because i guess he will be
back soon with more querries!

here is my question:
how does one get something usefull from such a box ? do we
need a shell login to work with it(at www.mysql.com i saw
they suppose you are working from a shell login)? or can we
querry it with a particular program(let say access!) from a
Win*&^s box in a networked environment?

if i can have from you possible scenario i would be
immensely grateful.

regards
