crap..  i just sold my 1542cf for this very reason...  i was wanting
it to handle low-bandwidth stuff like the CD-ROM, M-O drive, and DDS-2
tape drive, but I kept getting the above messages...  now i've got a
heck of a lot of stuff hanging off my 2940UW...  i of course have
'OPTION BOUNCE_BUFFERS' in my config...
