Using the Pedantic PPP primer i have set my box up to be a 'proxy' on my local network. My freebsd is running on a 486dx 66 with 8 megs of ram. (it was free =). I have the generuc kernel running with the min. dist. installed. I have made it through all of the stuff in up to 'testing the network' which is empty. when I execute ppp -ddial -alias myisp two things happen: 1. it takes about 60 seconds to do anything at all. 2. It dials out and connects. I get my assigned ip address and the ISP says I am connected (I have root privs on the portmaster). However when I ping my IP address from the other side of the line (the ISP side) I get no ping. Nor can I ping hosts on the outside of the box once the connection is up. If you are interested in seeing my ppp.conf file i will be happy to oblige. Does anyone have any hints for me? I thought I was decent at TCP/IP but this is kicking my butt.
