https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=198035 Bug ID: 198035 Summary: Make freebsd-version output revision information for non-release builds Product: Base System Version: 10.1-STABLE Hardware: Any OS: Any Status: New Severity: Affects Only Me Priority: --- Component: bin Assignee: freebsd-bugs@FreeBSD.org Reporter: aberg010@my.hennepintech.edu Currently, freebsd-version is not very useful on -STABLE and -CURRENT since the version information it gives is too basic. freebsd-version on a release version can tell you if the kernel is a different version from the userland and if the running kernel is different from the installed kernel (by comparing to uname output). On non-release versions, there could be some serious mismatches between kernel and userland (especially on -CURRENT), and freebsd-version would not indicate it, nor can it indicate that the userland was successfully updated. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
