Mmm. Well I think it is pretty clear on the Web site.

Very subjective. I have used Linux a lot and more recently
am exploring BSD. My initial impression is that BSD is faster
and more memory efficient than Linux for most things except 
X11, where I have found it painfully slow. I wouldnt put to
much store by my opinion on that though, I havent really looked into it.
I think BSD is a little more difficult to learn at the beginning
than Linux is. But I am an old System V Unix hack, so that may
just be me..

You can run many Linux applications on FBSD.
FBSD has it's own file system types, I dont know what you
can do with EXT2 fs's under them.
As for your particular hardware. I have no idea.
