 I have this same issue with 4.6, so it's broken in the new release as well.
 I have even gone back and tried to install 4.5 so that I would have a
 working file manager within GNOME and received the same error documented in
 this bug report. I haven't tried building from the ports collection because
 the machine that I have installed to is an experimental box without any
 network connectivity.
