First, you really want to run the CD-burner in an UltraDMA mode, if you can.
Try something like:

    sysctl hw.ata.atapi_dma=1

Second, you don't want to do D/A -> A/D conversions of the audio data, if
you possibly can avoid it.  Make sure your CD-reader has a digital audio
connection and has error correction enabled.
